At Freckleton Village Singers, we have a deep love for live music that fuels everything we do. We believe that there is nothing quite like the energy and excitement of a live performance, and we want to share that experience with as many people as possible.
Our Committee works hard to ensure the smooth running of the choir and also to seek out funding and grants so that we can continue to develop and bring the joy of music to as many people as possible. As such we would like you to meet some of the key members of our choir:
CHAIRMAN
Michael Lancaster
JOINT SECRETARIES:
Audrey Cooper
Hi Audrey here, I have been a member of Freckleton Village Singers for about 7 years, having joined following my retirement. I have been joint secretary for 12 months and am really enjoying the challenges that the role brings. This is however not the first choir in which I have been a member way back when I was a member of a church youth choir in St Annes, where it was an annual event to go from house to house and sing Christmas carols. Since then I have enjoyed singing when going to folk clubs and concerts throughout the years. Singing to my children, both those of my own and those I have worked with
throughout my child minding and teaching career, all be it in the format mainly of nursery rhymes.Other than the choir my interests include, lots of reading, sewing, the theatre, film, knitting, baking,
walking, swimming and having coffee and lunches out with friends and relations.
Elaina Graham
I've always loved singing and was in the madrigals at school. When I moved to Kirkham some years ago, I looked around for a local choir and knew that Catherine Barnett was the musical director at that time. I had known Catherine for many years so made the decision to join. That was about 10 years ago. Where has the time gone? Little did I know back then that I would end up being co secretary. I enjoy working with Audrey and look forward to many more years of singing.
TREASURER
David Catchpole
Back in 1988 I went for singing lessons with Mrs Jones to help me train and better understand vocal technique, I went on to use this as the drummer and backing vocalist with the band I played with at the time.
Two years later and Mrs Jones invited me to play percussion with the choir for a production of Merry England. I enjoyed the whole experience so much and it sparked my passion for choral singing, such that I joined the choir that year and have enjoyed it ever since. I still play drums with my band and we can be found performing at different venues across Lancashire.
LIBRARIANS
Janice Copeland and Cath Munroe
Cath was born in St Anne’s and moved to Freckleton upon getting marriage in 1971. She lives with her husband and has 2 children ,2 grandchildren and 2 cats. Cath joined the choir in January 2014 after attending and enjoying the 2013 Carol concert. Cath says:
"I sing 2nd soprano as I can’t hit the high notes and I am one of two choir librarians responsible for distributing and cataloguing music. Our Thursday choir is most enjoyable and I enjoy the weekly get together and social aspect as well as the singing."
