About Us

our choir was first formed way back in 1973, by a group of local folk who wanted to get together and sing!  We began as Freckleton Choral  and we met on Thursday evenings at the Methodist Church Hall in Freckleton. A tradition that has carried on for the last 50 years as we still meet at the same time and place! Our first conductor was Mollie Jones and eventually she was followed by her daughter Judith, and also her grandaughter Deborah who was the pianist.  A real family affair!  As time moved on and Judith retired Freckelton Choral was in need of a new conductor and pianist;  the name was changed to Freckleton Village Singers and we moved forwards with Steve Eccles as pianist and Emma as conductor, followed in time by Kathryn Barnett Battersby as conductor with Ruth on piano.  In 2021 we again were looking for a new conductor and we were lucky enough to welcome Dave Mawson as our musical director!  Dave both conducts the choir and plays the piano.  With a wealth of musical experience he has taken the choir from strength to strength and we are very proud of our musical performances.  We have come a long way and we will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary this year, which is an amazing acheivement for a village choir.  Community is at the heart of our choir and we really would like as many people to join us as possible so that we can celebrate our Centenary in another 50 years!  We are a very happy and friendly group and you don't have to be an amazing singer or read music to join us (but if you are then that would be great as well!).  As long as you want to have fun, enjoy the social aspect and health benefits of singing, or just get out of the house on a Thursday evening, then you would be most welcome to join us
